 | NEWS AND PRESS LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER TO INSTALL 150 WIRELESS LCD, PLASMA WAYFINDING SCREENS IN 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 17, 2005 LAS VEGAS - By the end of March, the Las Vegas Convention Center will debut 12 new wireless LCD and plasma wayfinding screens throughout the building. The screens will provide information and direction to the 1.3 million convention delegates who annually attend meetings in the facility. There are currently 12 screens, with plans to install a total of 150 by the end of 2005. Programming and training expenses will cost the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) an estimated $30,000 the first year of the program and $25,000 in subsequent years. The screens will vary in size from 19" to 60" and will display customized maps, welcome messages and show announcements. The screens will also be used for advertising. "It is imperative in a facility of 3.2 million square feet that we make it as easy as possible for convention attendees to get around," says Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO, LVCVA. "This is part of our organization's goal to provide superior customer service." Equipment is being supplied by Minneapolis-based Wireless Ronin® Technologies. The LVCVA's information technology department manages the screens' content and look. In addition to the screens, the LVCVA plans to install interactive kiosks that will provide touch-screen directional signage by spring 2005. ABOUT THE LVCVA: The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) is charged with marketing Southern Nevada as a tourism and convention destination worldwide, and also with operating the Las Vegas Convention Center and Cashman Center.
