Ford Motor Company to Launch Wireless Ronin Interactive Digital Signage Technology
Innovative Technology Demonstrates Benefits of Ford SYNC In-Vehicle System
MINNEAPOLIS – January 22, 2008 – Wireless Ronin Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNIN), a Minneapolis-based digital signage provider, announced today that Alteris Group, LLC, a Michigan based marketing communications company, will launch a Ford Motor Company interactive digital signage program using RoninCast® software. The digital signage system, which is currently in auto shows and consumer events around the U.S. and Canada, will promote and demonstrate the latest Ford SYNC in-vehicle technology (www.syncmyride.com) designed by Microsoft in collaboration with Ford engineers for integration into Ford Motor Company vehicles. The initial deployment is 50 units for use in public events.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to work with Ford and Alteris Group, by utilizing our RoninCast software to manage their interactive digital signage program,” said Jeffrey Mack, president and CEO of Wireless Ronin Technologies. “We are pleased that Alteris and Ford have chosen Wireless Ronin for this very important initiative. We are committed to meet or exceed their expectations through our cutting edge software.”
Ford will utilize the interactive RoninCast digital signage system at auto shows and other special events to demonstrate and promote Ford SYNC features and benefits to customers. Using a strategic alliance, wherein the best practices of each company were utilized to their fullest, Alteris Group, LLC, selected Wireless Ronin to help develop this project. Frank Mayer and Associates (Milwaukee) provided the display enclosure solution. Alteris Group led the team, directing the creative content and project management, while Wireless Ronin provided the proprietary software, information architecture, interactive design, and content deployment. The system integrates 50-inch and 32-inch touch screens with fabricated Ford SYNC branded enclosures. The program simulates the key SYNC features with on-screen virtual guides that interact with the audio “voice” of SYNC to demonstrate hands-free calling, play audio tracks from an mp3 player and USB drives.
“The Ford SYNC product is a unique technology that will greatly enhance the customer explanation experience for Ford’s customers,” said Alteris Group Co-owner, John Thompson. “It was important to bring an equally innovative partnership team to Ford Motor Co. to demonstrate product features and benefits in a relevant and meaningful way. Wireless Ronin provided an all-in-one interactive solution that mirrors the advanced level of technology in the Ford SYNC product.” Tim Connor, Alteris Group co-owner who led the project, said, “Wireless Ronin is very capable and a real leader in this space because of the responsiveness of their team and the sophistication of their software.”
This updateable system provides just-in-time simulation-based content to both large screen digital signage systems as well as computer desktops. Ford chose this system for its ease-of-use and updatability, and the ability to create a fun, interactive experience for the consumer that demonstrates the Ford SYNC product. The initial deployment will feature 50 units with plans for potential dealership deployment shortly thereafter. Ford SYNC, with the Alteris/Wireless Ronin system will be “on the road” at special events across the country over the next six months, including the Microsoft launch event in Seattle, Texas State Fair, Race for the Cure events, Digital Life Expo, the 2007/2008 Auto Show circuit.
